Author Guidelines

The Journal of Geography Education in Africa (JoGEA) is a peer-reviewed journal. Articles submitted to JoGEA are reviewed by a minimum of two expert reviewers. Peer reviews are blinded meaning that the author and the reviewer are anonymous in the review process. The Editorial Board selects articles based on the outcome of the review process which is then ratified by the editor(s). Authors of articles are sent guidelines for their final submission.

The objectives of this eJournal are:

  • To encourage the continued professional growth and support of existing educators and methodologists in the field of Geography as well as supporting and encouraging student teachers-in-training.
  • To build the importance of Geography as a globally relevant subject within schools.
  • To improve the status of secondary geography education in relation to the study options available at the tertiary level.
  • To promote African scholarship, particularly that of emerging scholars.
  • To promote the principles of sustainability through education.

We invite your participation in producing this journal. JoGEA encourages submissions from Geography educators from primary to tertiary level; Geography methodologists; subject advisors and all others interested in the field of Geography for possible publication. The contributions should share research and experiences to promote sound practices, innovative strategies, modern developments and reflection in Geography teaching and learning.

Contributions of varying length are invited. Most articles are between 5500 and 8000 words. There is a maximum of 8000 words for academic articles and research reports (including References).
