The Editoral Executive is proud to announce the publication of the guest-edited issue 14(1) focused on the professionalisation of academic advising. The theme-related articles have been masterfully guest-edited by Gugu Khanye and François Strydom of the University of the Free State, South Africa. Other articles, not specifically focused on academic advising, were edited by the JSAA Editorial Board.

Overall, this issue contains articles on the academic advising topic, as well as on various key topics in student affairs in Africa, including international students, student mental health and academic competence, first-year experience, student recruitment, and student politics.
