JSAA Migration to UCT and Moratorium on Open Submissions

Over the last 12 years, JSAA has migrated several times. JSAA was started at the University of the Western Cape, then migrated to Stellenbosch University, and for the last few years, it has been hosted at the University of Pretoria. In the course of the next weeks, JSAA will migrate to the Open Access Journals platform of the University of Cape Town Libraries.

At the same time, we are also very pleased that so many researchers seek to publish in JSAA. Submissions volumes have increased greatly in the last years and the pressure on editors, reviewers and journal managers has become immense.

Thus, due to the migration from UP to UCT and the exceptionally high volume of manuscripts currently under review, JSAA is currently unable to accept new open submissions. We expect this will become easier in the course of the next 6 to 12 months. An announcement when JSAA will accept open submissions again will be made via social media (our LinkedIn page) as well as the JSAA website and announcement feature.

Please note: Submissions in response to a particular special call (for a guest-edited issue) can still be made but must be made directly to the corresponding guest-editor mentioned in the call for papers. We welcome those submissions. 

In the meantime, we encourage you to consider submitting your important research to another reputable open-access journal in Africa.
