Call for Submissions Extended
All students, past and present, are invited to submit a short (800 – 2000 word) academic article / academically referenced opinion piece for publication on our online writing platform, Alternate Horizons. Submissions will now be accepted until a new deadline, which is set on the 15th of April 2023.
You are invited to submit opinion pieces on the role that activists and public intellectuals have played in the attainment of human rights in South Africa.
We invite authors to select from the following themes:
- How has activism shaped human rights?
- How have public intellectuals shaped our perspectives on human rights?
- What do contemporary movements show us about how human rights have evolved?
Article title: Choose your own title based on the content of the article
Article length: 800-2000 words excluding the bibliography
Article style: Arial, 12pt, justified text
Reference style: Harvard method (See style guide here)

Review Process
Articles will be reviewed by researchers and academics in similar fields and will be considered for publication based on their feedback. Submissions of previously published work will not be considered.
